Every year the EEC sponsors ideaLabs, an idea competition where undergraduate students from across the region compete for prizes and recognition as the champion. ideaLabs encourages all students, from all disciplines, to think about new venture ideas, apply the feasibility study methodology and answer the three key questions: Is there a market? Do the financials make sense? And what resources are necessary?
To participate, I submitted a 3 minute elevator pitch and was selected to be a semi-finalist out of hundreds of submissions. From there 10 businesses were pitched, and 5 were eliminated. I was selected to as one of the 5 to continue and present a powerpoint pitch. I had a wonderful experience and got to meet a lot of amazing people from other colleges and local organizations. Proud to say that I finished second in the completion overall!

In collaboration with a team of national experts, the National Council for Mental Wellbeing launched CONNECTED , a two tier learning community aimed at reducing youth anxiety, depression and suicide in underserved communities. From 2018 to 2021, five community-based organizations and twenty courageous youth with lived experience partnered to design and create their own strategies to improve access to inclusive and responsive mental health supports. While inspiring change and making a difference in their communities, the national CONNECTED cohort convened regularly to learn from each other, the national CONNECTED partner team and other thought leaders.
I was selected to be a youth consultant for this mental health initiative! I am forever grateful for the opportunity to work with so many amazing individuals across the country!
